As the Chinese community ushers in the arrival of the Year of the Rooster, I am reminded: New Year is a time for reflection and a time for celebration, and we all need as much of both of the seas we can squeeze in to our busy lives. We are good at throwing celebrations! We love to give parties and gather people together for fun and laughter and I can feel the energy shifting every time friends share their experiences, often laughing, sometimes crying and consoling each other over not-so-good episodes.
This time I like to make more time for reflecting. I am also sending out more positive thoughts–and in fact I will commit to say them out loud, to everyone especially because the Year of the Rooster “crows” so much promise, and some mandatory cautions, too.

Positive intentions: To say them out loud

To confirm the intensity of my thoughts, I will say out loud my positive intentions–I learned that this helps utilize our entire focus. In other words we tell the universe what we wish to happen. Affirmations and sending out words that comfort have been practiced for a long time but, accordingly, they are effective especially as away to send love, care, positivity, joy, strength…etc. So we say, “This year I reach my highest potential,” and soon.

I personally have found that when I get stressed or overwhelmed my mind shifts and start harboring negative thoughts. But I have learned to snap back because it’s only by making a positive effort to focus on good and up lifting thoughts that I can get it back under control.

So, “I am making the Year of the Rooster a year of joy and health for myself and my loved ones, and peace and love for everyone.”

Year of the Rooster: Time to feast, and ponder

The Chinese Year of the Rooster begins on January 29, 2017 and the Rooster, it said“…is the most misunderstood and eccentric of all the signs. Outwardly, he is the epi to me of self-assurance and aggression, but at heart, he can be conservative and old fashioned…he makes this year bright and happy even though he has a knack for dissipating energy and making simple things complicated.”

Consider us warned. But really, I have read somewhere that the Rooster’s dramatic personality can set off all kinds of petty disputes. Let us all be cautious. When in a seeming argument, let us allow ourselves to view the whole picture. Let us keep our eyes open and check facts and figures before making unprecedented moves. At end of the day, it will be well because “the Rooster symbolizes the good administrator and conscientious over seer of justice in the barnyard, so peace will be kept.”

As we celebrate, I send out my thoughts: May you have your wishes, your intentions and your dreams fulfilled this year. Hugs and love from me and my family!
