What a difference a year makes! With more kindness, compassion, and patience. I start another year in my 60s open to all possibilities. After almost a year focused on self-love, I am living with much curiosity of what life has to offer this new chapter. Instead of being who someone else wants you to be, just be yourself. Freedom starts the moment you decide to be yourself. It’s the first step to happiness. I was seeking revenge, redemption and atonement, but realized that all I needed was self-respect and empathy. Internally working on these issues was the only way to true healing where the heart learns to be Indifferent.

So today, at 61, I have journeyed through different kinds of love and finally settled into a promising and hopefully long-lasting relationship where love wins. In this new path, I have also taken my beauty routine more seriously, since gravity seems to dictate the direction of many parts of my body.

A week later, I really noticed glowing changes and was complimented by my seatmates at the Bench Fashion Week. On the invitation of Bench boss Ben Chan and featured designer Chito Vijandro, my seatmates Steven Tan and Sharyn Wong enjoyed Chito’s retro collection and the hottest Beach Body show.

Two days after, it was my turn to walk a short runway for Atelier Debbie Co at Rockwell. I led the mini fashion show featuring Debbie’s prêt- à-porter dresses with influencers Chinchin Obcena, Denise Heredia, Jamie Herrell and Valerie Tan. With 19 years: of experience in the fashion and wedding industry, Debbie is known for her timeless, elegant, romantic, and feminine designs.

Her studio carries various collections that reflect her signature aesthetic. The Ateliebrand focuses on made-to-measure evening and bridal wear. As a result, her designs have become a preferred choice for celebrities and fashion connoisseurs.

Guests, media, and VIPs were brought to a garden of elegance and romance as Debbie Co’s new collection was unveiled in her recent pop-up opening at Ra, Power Plant Mall, Makati City.

“I wanted to create a collection that still has my signature feminine and romantic style, yet can be worn on many occasions. I want every woman to feel confident and beautiful through Prêt-à-porter Debbie Co. And at a more accessible price point, I hope more women can enjoy my designs.” Debbie said.

From Fashion To Art

From fashion to art, I atte the “Appasionata III” exhibit of Marivic Rufino and other artists at Leon Gallery International in partnership with DF Art Agency, at the launch. I chatted with Jaime de Leon, who is all excited about his gallery’s upcoming auction, “The Magnificent September Auction 2024,” happening on Sept. 14, 2 pm.

Couple Jesus and Maritess Pineda offer from their collection a precious early Anita Magsaysay Ho. “Sabungero,”painted around 1945-1946, perfectly encapsulates her teacher Fernando Amorsolo’s influence in her subject and technique, but with her modernist twist of bold strokes and colors.

There is also Priscilla L Chiongbian, the mother of Sarangani province who served as its first governor. She was an avid collector and lover of fine art. Manansala’s “Woman Playing Guitar,” “Still Life” and “Roses with Bird of Paradise” all hung prominently in the lavish rooms of Priscilla’s Beverly Hills mansion, and are among the paintings to watch in this highly anticipated auction.

“The Magnificent September Auction” will be held at Eurovilla 1, Rufino corner Legazpi Streets, Legazpi Village, Makati City. Preview week is until Sept. 13. 9 a.m. to 7 pm.
