Beautypreneur PH | Inside the Best Dressed Women of the Philippines (BDWP) Awards Ball 2022 | From Tatler Asia – Since 2004, the Best Dressed Women of the Philippines (BDWP) Awards Ball has continued its advocacy and raised funds for the Philippine Cancer Society to provide the resources needed in helping underprivileged Filipinos.

Time and time again, this social event has proven the power of unity and kindness. In the years before, the BDWP had garnered enough financial support through auctions and donations for those battling cancer. Two years ago, the longest-running charity fashion show led by Angola Consul Helen Ong welcomed well-heeled men and women in their lavish gowns and suits in Metro Manila.

Ong’s philanthropic efforts have grown in importance, especially during these precarious times, and allowed the committee to reach its goal of giving back and shedding light on the state of cancer survivors. It raised eight million pesos after launching the first-ever coffee table book published by The Society for Cultural Enrichment, Inc, titled Best Dressed Women of the Philippines 2020.

This year, however, the people behind the BDWP aim to surpass the amount they’ve raised for the benefit of the Philippine Cancer Society (PCS) by launching its second coffee table book.

This new book features six gorgeous ladies on the cover: Mache T. Ackerman, Edna R. Sutter, Carol O. Mercado, Rosalind L. Wee, Virginia G. Lane and Katrina C. Ponce Enrile. One will also find Catherine Luk on the back cover.

Right now is a vulnerable time for the disadvantaged, and this only pushed the BDWP to take action.

“Going through this pandemic for the second year only intensified our desire to continue raising awareness and funds to help our fellow Filipinos who have been gravely affected by cancer. It’s been a trying two years, but we are determined to proceed in making a difference. After much thought, we agreed that it was time to raise funds by publishing a timeless coffee table book for the second year in a row,” says Angola Consul and Best Dressed Women of the Philippines Chairperson Helen Ong.

PCS President Dr Corazon Ngelangel even expressed her gratitude. “For the last 18 years, society has been extremely grateful to the BDWP for continuously providing the much-needed funding support for most of our programmes that affect this stricken sector of our nation.”

More well-heeled guests in their chic gowns and suits joined this year’s BDWP Awards Ball, including the Board of Directors: Consul Helen Ong, Consul Betty Chua, Mario O. Katigbak, Flora B. Chua, Consul Agnes Huibonhoa, Consul Marian Ong, Elaine R. Villar, Sheree Chua, Froilan “Roy” Gonzales, Dr Mildred V. Vitangcol and Isabelita “Eisa” Paredes Mercado. Chairperson Ruby Chua and Book Committee Members Agile Zamora and Nikki Tang also attended. Inspiring the crowd with her story of survival, Sheila Romero shared her mission to motivate others to overcome the big C.

With the help of generous donors and the committed team behind the BDWP, more survivors will have a chance at a life full of hope and happiness, one page at a time.
