How many of you can be completely honest about binge-watching movies?

I am doing it even before the time of an ongoing pandemic. Believe me, I can’t be distracted from being so focused on my favourite movies because watching them has helped me get through some of my emotional states. Well, movies are ways to fill up days when I feel so bored for either being stuck at home or just when I couldn’t think of anything to do at home. Don’t get me wrong as there are other activities we can do. I am a reader. I absolutely love books but I can’t and will never compare them to each other. It is our choice between the words and the screen, really up to us which one to go for. Both can take us into different journeys and touch us in unique ways.

“There’s an alternative if you choose.”

– Vikings, Season 1

Mostly, watching movies online is a better way for me to divert my senses from having a lot of stresses during the week. All of us can adapt to the movies we watch, I guess because each one of us can find personalities which are similar to ours. You will never make it to the end of the film if you didn’t find anything relatable. There’s always a unique inner experience that’s due not only to the story but to the character who is a visual representation of me in reality. When I find really good movie stories, I feel like I want to escape into it. That I just don’t care if I’d be forever detached to the real world because am so enticed in the screen.

“I have something that will change everything.”

– Vikings, Season 1

I want to talk about my Netflix favourite – Vikings.

Read this to give you an overview of the Vikings series, in case you haven’t seen any of its episodes. It has been a reason why I took the lockdown situation positively and why I remain steady on defying the challenges in life.

“I know your reputation… and how many battles have you won. But still, you don’t have any idea what you are now facing.”

– Vikings, Series 6

In my observation of the movie, it is not just a visual experience as it offers “warrior-like” leadership values that are presented in pieces by way of understanding what leading characters does to their kingdom. As I go on each episode, the more I dive into a better understanding of what the character of a leader must be. To Viking’s credit, it’s an extraordinary storyline twisted by both battle and herald of a Leader. The film was set in a barbaric era where people try to invade kingdom every kingdom to prove their worth as a leader and how they are worthy of the throne.

Extracting the events will be difficult but those that depict real-life scenarios such as the characters’ schemas, choices and goals are cognitive representations of real beliefs, desires and intentions of a Leader in today’s world – the very reasons why I’ve immersed myself to the character of Bjorn Lothbrok, the son of Ragnar and Lagertha played by Canadian Actor himself Alexander Ludwig. The way he interacts on each scene is noticeably inspiring. Some of you may have encountered him in another movie, The Hunger Games in 2012. Fast forward, his portrayal in Vikings has been an awe-inspiring test for an actor. I am a big fan of him!

Until someone heard “my wish that I get a greeting from Alexander”.

On my birthday, this Vikings Video was sent in as a surprise!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Alexander Ludwig and those people behind this very unusual surprise that truly amazed and impressed me!

My dear readers, you don’t have any idea how grateful it feels to me, to have looked at a video made by someone like Alexander Ludwig, it is amazing! Most importantly, it is an evidence to every person that absolutely anything we want in life could be possible. My Vikings story far outweighed the doubt and fear felt about the social isolation I am experiencing to this time.

What do you think of my story? If you enjoyed reading this blog post, share it with a friend!
