In the recent years, more and more people have been spreading awareness on different mental health issues. Mental health affects how we behave, feel, and deal with the ups and downs of our lives. Unfortunately, some people have difficulties in either controlling or understanding how they feel or perceive things, causing them to act irrationally or behave differently.

The probable causes of mental health issues may be genetic, life experiences like trauma and struggling, or a combination of both. Each diagnosis have varying symptoms, but the most common ones are eating or sleeping too much (or too little), feeling helpless or hopeless, having no motivation to do any activity, withdrawal from human interaction, and thoughts of self harm. Mental health issues include anxiety disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, etc. People with these conditions are not necessarily disabled, since they can undergo treatment and therapy to help them cope with the disorder.

In the event that you find out that a loved one or a friend is experiencing mental health issues, it is important to let them know that you are there for them. You do not have to treat them differently – as if they are fragile and could combust any moment, since that can probably only make them more self conscious and anxious of their disorder. If you are experiencing the symptoms yourself, there is no shame in seeking out professional help. Having a disorder is nothing to be ashamed of,

Mental health issues are realities of life, and something that we have to cope with. Everyone wants to be happy and healthy, so let us do our part and help break the stigma on mental disorders.
