On March 16, 2020, President Rodrigo Duterte placed the island of Luzon under Enhanced Community Quarantine as response to the COVID19 global pandemic.

In the week that followed, members of RCMPD dedicated themselves to the service of their fellow Filipinos and began the fund-raising, procurement, purchasing, and distribution of much needed medical supplies and food for the overcrowded and overworked hospital staff, commonly referred to as frontliners. These frontliners are the heroes of a war the world was ill-prepared to do battle for, a better understanding of which can be read in Hazel Zuellig’s article in this same section.
